Description
MR013F Model Sedimentation Tank Vocational Training Equipment Didactic Equipment Hydraulic Workbench

Technical specification
A rigid acrylic settling tank of 80L capacity can be fed by a mains water or a slurry supply. Slurry is pumped from a 120L sump tank via a centrifugal pump. A sparging device in the sump tank keeps the slurry in suspension.
Both supplies are fitted with a flow meter. Mains water flow meter range 0.5 - 5.0 litres/min; slurry flow meter range 0 - 2 litres/min.
A dye injection system is incorporated to allow hydraulic tracer and flow visualisation
studies.

Measuring flow regimes using a dye tracer and comparison of these with idealised flow models.
Effect of variables such as flow rate and baffle position on flow regimes.
Measurement of sediment removal efficiencies.

III.Equipment overview
In a sedimentation tank, a suspension in which solids are separated by gravity. For this, the density of the solid particles must be greater than the liquid.
The influencing factors of the separation process of the sedimentation tank were studied. Water and precipitated calcium carbonate suspensions were first prepared in a tank. A pump sends the suspension to the sedimentation tank. In the sedimentation tank, the inlet area of the fresh water is suspended. The mixed stream flows through the inlet port. The solid sinks to the bottom by means of a sedimentation tank. The treated water flow rate at the outlet of the sedimentation tank.
The flow rate of the suspension and fresh water is regulated by the valve and is indicated by a flow meter. This allows the mixing ratio - thereby adjusting the solids concentration of the mixture. In order to ensure uniform suspension of the suspension, premature precipitation is prevented and a portion of the suspension is fed back into the suspension tank in a bypass manner. To enhance the observation of water flow conditions and sedimentation processes, the sedimentation tank is made of a transparent material.
A baffle can be placed in the settling tank to obstruct the flow. Its horizontal and vertical positioning in the sedimentation tank is adjustable. This affects the flow conditions and the efficiency of the separation process.
