The dual-speed four-pole motor is a type of pole-changing speed-regulating three-phase squirrel-cage asynchronous motor. By changing the stator winding connection method, the number of motor pole pairs can be changed to obtain two different synchronous speeds. The basic number of poles of this machine is 4, and the switching between 4 poles and another number of poles can be achieved by changing the winding connection. The common configurations are 2/4 poles and 4/8 poles.

The speed control structure is simple, achieving two fixed speeds by simply switching the winding connections, without requiring a frequency converter, slip ring, speed control resistor, or other supporting devices.
